Tender Description

This project seeks to support the sustainability of Cannon Hall Museum parklands and gardens by the reparation and restoration of a Georgian Plunge Pool designed by Richard Woods, leading designer of his day, in c1766. The pool's west embankment is collapsing and is in need of rebuilding before it is lost. It is currently braced with boards and scaffolding poles to prevent further damage. Listed Building consent has been granted to repair this wall and to repair the inner drainage channel to prevent water from diverting into the west wall which had caused the original damage. The consent allows for dismantling wall, making repairs to the inner structure and then rebuilding the wall following the archaeological recommendations. Drawings, plans and a schedule of work have been compiled by Mason Clark Associates and TJC Heritage have written the Written Statement of Investigation for an Archaeological Watching Brief. The Council is looking to appoint a Contractor to deliver the plunge pool restoration works.
