Brief description:
Sandwell Adult Social Care is seeking two Senior Occupational Therapists to join our moving and handling team. We are recruiting at an exciting time, as this is a newly created team, and the value of OT is more recognised and understood. We have ambitious plans to embed a 'moving with dignity' approach across partners in both health and social care in Sandwell, with a strong focus on facilitating and enabling independence and wellbeing.
For many people living at home with a long-term condition means having to accept care from health and social care workers. Moving and handling legislation often means that care is delivered in a way that the person would not have chosen, yet they accept it as part of the many daily compromises they make to live a life with meaning and purpose.
We are looking for Occupational Therapists to join our team, who have the skill to determine whether the use of specialist equipment, together with up-to-date moving and handling of people techniques, ensures that reduced carer handling can be safely achieved.
We welcome interest from Occupational Therapists with experience and a passion for moving and handling of people. As well as your experience working as an OT, a degree (or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy and current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), you will also need;
o Experience of carrying out effective and proportionate assessments and making appropriate recommendations for specialist equipment and adaptations to meet complex needs
o Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of health/social care legislation and implications for practice
o Great interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with people, caregivers, and other professionals
o Excellent spoken and written communication skills
o Great organisational and time management skills
o A current driving licence and ability to travel around the Borough (reasonable adjustments may be made for those with a disability)
We understand that our employees have commitments and interests outside work and encourage good work-life balance by offering a flexible and agile working environment where staff are able to work from home, our office base or multiple locations around Sandwell to best suit their working needs.
We welcome candidates that are passionate about the care and the support they provide, ensuring that it is personalised and, where possible, gives service user's control of their lives focusing on a strengths-based approach.
37 hours per week - The service operates standard hours as follows; 9am till 5.30pm ...
