Tender Description

This is for a research project to better understand the impact of hotspot policing on serious violence and other crime and anti-social behaviour and on community perceptions.

The Violence and Complex Crime Unit in Leicestershire Police have been delivering hotspot policing in areas identified as having high levels of serious violence for a number of years which has contributed to reductions in the severity of offences committed in these areas. While the impact of hotspot policing on serious violence continues to be evaluated locally, we are keen to understand how this approach is perceived by individuals and communities who live in and around hotspot areas.
The overall aims of the project are to gain a better understanding of:
o The impact of hotspot policing on serious violence and other crime and anti-social behaviour.
o The public awareness of hotspots policing patrols.
o The public perceptions of the effectiveness of hotspots patrols.
o The influence patrols have on feelings of safety, perceptions of and confidence in the police
o how all of the above vary by subject demography and whether the hotspots patrol were during core night-time economy times or not.
