Tender Description

Worcester was one of 100 places in England invited to develop proposals for a Town Deal as part of the £3.6 billion Towns Fund announced in July 2019. The Towns Fund is part of the government's plan for levelling up the UK economy. The overarching aims of the Towns Fund are to drive the sustainable economic regeneration of towns to deliver long term economic and productivity growth.

Worcester City Council developed the Worcester Town Investment Plan (TIP) setting out a long-term strategy to drive sustainable and inclusive economic growth and support recovery from COVID-19.

The Community Skills Project is one of five priority projects identified in the TIP with the aim to enhance the adult education offered in the city by expanding inclusive training facilities at existing community centres. The community centres play an important role supporting Worcester's deprived communities providing general community and youth activities.

This project comprises the proposed internal refurbishments at 5 community centres owned by Worcester City Council (WCC) and leased to Worcester Community Trust (WCT). It is a joint undertaking between WCC (the client) and WCT.

The Works

The proposed works are to carry out internal refurbishments to include reconfiguration of existing rooms; decoration; lighting, ventilation, heating and general electrical works; floor coverings and fixed furniture as summarised below:
1. Dines Green community centre: Refurbishment of reception;
2. Horizon community centre: Refurbishment of reception;
3. King George V Community Centre: Refurbishment of reception;
4. Ronkswood Community Centre: Refurbishment of reception and: Reconfigure changing rooms to meeting rooms
5. Tolladine Community Centre: Reconfigure the Sure Start room to divide into two separate, linked rooms

Please note before tendering Bidders must carry out a site visit with the Authority's representative. The site visits will be held on 28 and 29 February 2024. Failure to carry out a site visit with the Authority's representative will result in a non-compliant tender bid.

The Council is using the e-procurement portal known as the Proactis Pro-Contract portal https://procontract.due-north.com to conduct this procurement exercise.
