Tender Description

The National Physical Laboratory [NPL] requirement is to have a wideband multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) radio frequency (RF) vector-based testbed system that can enable real-time software-defined-radio (SDR) operation. The purpose is to establish the over-the-air (OTA) measurement testbed for 5G and beyond wireless communication system, to meet the requirement of the latest 3GPP protocol, especially for 5G new radio (NR) Phase 2.

The measurement system requires an ultra-wide band hardware SDR platform with MIMO RF channels. Meanwhile, the cutting edged MIMO OTA measurement algorithms need to be further developed and evaluated based on the SDR platform.

Therefore, the system should have flexible software-designed architecture for real-time signal processing and control that can adapt NR standards and emerging protocols to enable the traceable measurement metrology development for current and future wireless communications and to address measurement challenges on NR RF signal design and communication algorithm.

The asset must consist of at least a 4 x 4 MIMO system with high-speed digital interfaces that can handle instantaneous wide bandwidth data.
