Tender Description

Skipton Town Hall is home to Craven Museum and Exhibition Gallery, a grand Concert Hall, and Skipton's Tourist Information Centre. The building is undergoing redevelopment and restoration to become a 21st century Cultural Hub for Craven District.
Established in 1928 Craven Museum has varied and significant collections ranging from geology and archaeology to textiles and social history, and spanning prehistory to contemporary.
Craven District Council has secured Heritage Lottery Funding with the aim to transform the museum, its facilities and the way in which it shares and celebrates its collections. The museum has a great deal of potential to tell the story of the Craven Dales and become a central point from which it can signpost back out to the numerous historic sites and areas of interest across the District, and the redevelopment includes the construction of a dedicated Museum store, education facility and research office.
The Town Hall project will also improve flexibility and function of the Concert Hall attracting a wide variety of events and performances to the Town, facilitating a much improved cultural offer to Craven and help to transform the building into a self-sustaining cultural and community hub.
We are now seeking a contractor to deliver the capital works.
