Tender Description

Public Health would like to commission a weekly Community Caf? service targeted towards men over the ages of 50, who are at risk of becoming socially isolated or lonely or who maybe experiencing social isolation or loneliness.
The aim of the caf? will be to support friendship through weekly cafe meetings, workshops and trips. Weekly caf?s will offer a chance for men to meet regularly, enjoy free refreshments and part-take in group activities. Workshops will provide supportive environments for men to enjoy practical activities, share skills and obtain practical advice on areas including cooking on a budget or gas and electric energy-saving tips. Trips will take place to help participants explore new environments of interest and engage with local amenities helping them to grow in confidence and feel engaged in the area in which they live and foster new relationships.

As part of Birmingham's efforts to reduce reliance on health and social care services, to reduce social isolation and loneliness and to enable Birmingham's growing older population to lead healthier lives.
Public Health will be inviting potential providers to bid for up to (and not in excess of) 5 Community Caf? lots. The following listed below:

Lot 1 - LGBT+ Community
Lot 2 - Veterans
Lot 3 - Men with learning disabilities or physical and/or sensory impairments with or without complex needs.
Lot 4 - One or more Black and minority ethnic communities, specifically those listed below, but not limited to:
o Polish and eastern European
o Chinese/Vietnamese/Korean
o Black African (including Somali, Eritrean, Ugandan)
o Black Caribbean
o South Asian (including Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi)

Lot 5 - Community group of interest not specified above and not catered for by existing community caf?s or similar provision. Providers applying for lot 5 must still adhere to all specification requirements listed in this document. Providers applying for this lot must provide robust evidence of need.

Providers may bid for one, more or all lots from the specified list below. Each lot may focus on a specified group of people but include some cross-over with other lots, i.e. Veterans with physical or sensory impairment.

The service will commence for a period of 6 months from March 2023
